The SHURE Model SM98A is a miniature electret condenser microphone with a
unidirectional (cardioid) pickup pattern. A smooth wide frequency response from 40
to 20,000 Hz makes the microphones well suited for musical well suited for musical
instrument pickup. With the supplied A98SPM the 98 element becomes the
smallest multi-pattern microphone available, eliminating the need for costly multiple
capsules. The very high maximum sound pressure level allows use of the SM98A
with all acoustic instruments as well as with amplified guitars and keyboards.
It is furnished with the ILP-1 preamplifier (powered by 11 - 52 Vdc) with a selectable
gain of 0 or +10 dB and switchable low-frequency response (flat or low cut). Supplied
is a 4.6 m, two-conductor, shielded cable with miniature 3-pin female connectors.
